OLY sweeps Valencia

The second sweep of the Cyber Euroleague Top 16 is official—and it came courtesy of Giannis Moscholios, the Piraeus native guiding Olympiacos to a decisive 3-0 series victory over Veljko Komlos’ Valencia. In a clash of experience versus debut fire, the Greek powerhouse showed composure, grit, and elite-level execution across three straight matchups in NBA 2K25.

Komlos, a Serbian newcomer to the Cyber Euroleague stage, delivered a respectable campaign. Despite being handed the reins of a Valencia side not currently competing in real-life Euroleague basketball, Komlos impressively reached the Top 16 and secured a place for the Spanish squad in next season's edition—a commendable feat for any first-time gamer.

Cyber Euroleague Series Recap: Giannis Moscholios - Veljko Komlos: Olympiacos Turns Up the Heat

Game 1 laid the foundation for what was to come. Olympiacos opened with a statement, outscoring Valencia 26-20 in the first quarter and never relinquishing control. Moscholios’ crew imposed their rhythm on both ends, ending the game with a comfortable double-digit win.

Game 2 saw a more stubborn Valencia side, with Komlos making adjustments and showing more offensive courage. But again, Olympiacos pulled away with superior ball movement and well-timed scoring bursts. The Greek side's defensive discipline limited Valencia's key threats and ensured another convincing result.

In Game 3, Valencia gave one last stand. The Serb’s squad kept it close through the first half, showing resilience and purpose. But Olympiacos turned up the defensive intensity in the third quarter, forcing key turnovers and converting in transition. The final quarter was a red-and-white clinic in game management, sending Olympiacos through to the quarterfinals.

Olympiacos and Moscholios: Efficiency, Defense, and Balance

The team stats across all three games underline Moscholios' dominance. Olympiacos outshot Valencia from the field with greater consistency and punished every mistake. Their fast-break game was razor-sharp, often converting turnovers into easy points. On the boards, Olympiacos controlled both ends, denying Valencia second chances.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Moscholios’ side was their unselfish ball movement. Olympiacos tallied a higher assist count in every game, reflecting their crisp passing and offensive structure. Defensively, their rotations and steals per game helped swing momentum and gradually deflate Komlos’ rhythm.

Despite the sweep, Komlos exits the competition with his head held high. His run with Valencia will be remembered for tactical growth and the boldness to challenge higher-seeded opposition, proving his spot in the Cyber Euroleague is well-deserved.

What’s Next in the Cyber Euroleague?

Giannis Moscholios and Olympiacos will now face stiffer competition in the Cyber Euroleague Quarterfinals, with Nikola Tasic and Bayern Munich awaiting. But if their Top 16 showing is anything to go by, this team is no underdog.

So Giannis Moscholios has to go through a whole family tree (Nikola Tasic and Veljko Komlos are cousins) to make it to the Cyber Euroleague Final 4!

As for Veljko Komlos, the Serbian gamer leaves the season with a valuable learning curve and the validation that he belongs at Europe’s top level of competitive NBA 2K25.
