The first round, where 44 out of 54 participants were placed in, counts as the Qualifiers round for the main tournament phases, the Round of 32.
As we all know the best EuroCup gamer in this tournament will receive a Euroleague ticket guaranteed.
So far, following EuroCup teams made it to the main stage:
U-BT Cluj (Liaqat Ali)
London Lions (Daniel Akinola-Odusola)
Prometey (Ihor Klimov)
Anorthosis (Zayd Muosa)
Aris Saloniki (Peter Kushev)
Samsunspor (Panthers/Ismail Bedirhan)
Unicaja Malaga (Viktor Vladov)
Tenerife (Mantas Tamošauskas)
Wolves (Gytis Blaževičius)
Buducnost (Georgi Yamboliev)
Reyer (Fiorenzo Marani)
Winner of Napoli/Lietkabelis
Winner of Besiktas/Paris
Brescia (Giacomo Salerno) (Pesaro still to play Monaco in 1st round)
As in the Round of 32, most of the EuroCup teams are drawn to Euroleague, their chances to reach Top16 gets smaller,
but some of them have a bigger chance and we will see EuroCup teams in top16 ad they have been drawn to each other for sure, so they have the bigger chance now of come closer to that EL ticket:
Reyer (Fiorenzo Marani) will meet the winner of Napoli/Lietkabelis, so one of them will make the Top16 as a EuroCup team
Brescia (Giacomo Salerno) will meet the winner of Paris/Besiktas, so another EuroCup team will be in top 16 as well
Of course other EuroCup teams could surprise and upset some Euroleague teams too
So at least 2 EuroCup teams would make it to the Top16 and fight for the EL ticket via the Cup.
If they are eliminated in the same round, there would be a EL ticket showdown immediately after s2 end.
For now the biggest stakes might be on Reyer being that one participant and also whoever wins from Paris/Besiktas matchup would be favorite vs Brescia, but Brescia is also not a team to be underestimated.
