Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia will debute in their first ever International еSports competition in Season 1 of 2K24 Virtual EuroCup, the second highest level of European Gaming according to Virtual Basketball Leagues.
Martin Ivanov will represent the reds from the Bulgarian capital. Ivanov is 31-year old and former youth football (soccer) player of CSKA Sofia. He is also a complete debutant as he made his way through very tough qualifiers to secure his spot in the Virtual EuroCup. As CSKA had a secure spot in the EuroCup and taking an already qualifies gamer, one more spot got free for a wildcard that goes to Jonas Koitka, who will reprensent Lithuanian side Wolves Vilnius.
Surely Martin Ivanov and CSKA already in a huge underdog role, and with the devastating blow-out loss to Aris in a real-life friendly does not help to boost their players' ratings in game, but some recent additions to their rosters, especially the US imports can become true weapons also virtually. It will be interesting to see how this overall project will develop, but also how Ivanov will be in his debut season, as he also had some remarkable tight losses vs strong Virtual Euroleague gamers and even some wins in casual friendly's vs lower ambitioned Virtual Euroleague gamers.
"I am hungry for more, finally i reached this level of stage, just one big step away from Europe's best in the Virtual Euroleague. I want to get there as bigger clubs, higher finances and sponsors are waiting there. I have to start small, as it is my debutant season and for now I can not pay my living from it, but it is surely a goal within big sponsors also to sign with the league and the league already becoming a huge product europe-wide.", said Martin Ivanov.
